Senior Manufacturing Engineer
About the Role:
An industry-leading U.S. manufacturer of high-precision components for aerospace, defense, and energy sectors is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. This position plays a key role across the entire product lifecycle—from new product introduction (NPI) to process improvement and requalification of legacy components—within a complex, regulated machining environment.
You’ll work hands-on with advanced technologies such as multi-axis CNC milling, wire/sinker EDM, and high-precision grinding. The role includes direct collaboration with major OEM clients, cross-functional teams, and mentorship of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and refine manufacturing processes for complex, tight-tolerance parts using CNC milling, EDM, and grinding.
Act as a customer-facing engineering liaison, managing design changes and technical communications.
Lead validation and requalification initiatives for legacy products, ensuring regulatory and quality compliance.
Define optimized machining strategies including tooling, feeds/speeds, fixture design, and EDM parameters.
Partner with Quality, Tooling, and Operations teams to drive scalable production solutions.
Perform root cause analysis, lead corrective actions, and champion continuous improvement.
Train and support junior engineers and shop-floor personnel on process updates.
Support CAD/CAM programming and simulations using platforms such as Mastercam, Vericut, and SolidWorks.
Participate in audits, FAI inspections, and documentation efforts including PPAP and FAI packages.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
5–10+ years in a manufacturing engineering role within a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, energy, automotive, medical).
Expertise in:
Multi-axis CNC milling
Wire and sinker EDM
Creep feed or CBN grinding
Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
Customer-facing technical experience.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or comparable quality standards.
Preferred:
Experience machining exotic alloys (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy).
Background in legacy part requalification or reverse engineering.
Experience with Haas CNC controls.
Lean, Six Sigma, or CI training/certifications.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Why This Role Stands Out:
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established company with a strong customer base, exceptional employee retention (many with 30+ years of service), and a collaborative, down-to-earth work culture. You’ll contribute to innovative, high-stakes programs while enjoying long-term job stability and professional growth.
